Hei Hei fra Kaia

Hi Everyone,

This year I am studying Friluftsliv (outdoor life) at Hardanger Folkehogskule in Norway. This is a year-long program where I will go on outdoors trips and be immersed in Norwegian culture. My favorite activities so far are allsang, volleyball, and going on hikes. I have been learning lots of Norwegian and it kind of feels like a grown-up Skogfjorden. This photo is from my first backpacking trip in Hardanger National Park. I really appreciate the scholarship from our lodge, making this year possible. Tusen Takk!

Beste Helsing,

Ed note: Norway has 80 Folk Schools across the country. They are open to foreigners, and some have a special emphasis on learning Norwegian. These non-academic programs offer a wide range of programs, from surfing and sailing to weaving and dog mushing. This is a great way to spend a year in Norway, make Norwegian friends and practice your Norwegian.
